Developed by GERMAN BRASS member trumpeter Christoph Baerwind
It all began with an innovative idea by professional musician Christoph Baerwind. He dreamt of a mute which could make silent rehearsals a reality, and which could be used both as a trumpet mute and a mouthpiece mute. The trumpet mute with innovative dual function.
The highest standards were applied to the selection of materials and their processing. Vhizzper mutes are made of durable, glass-fibre-reinforced thermoplastic resin using an injection moulding technique. All components are produced and assembled in Germany, and are tested before delivery. The mute’s shape fits perfectly into all standard trumpet bells.
Whether you're rehearsing or preparing for a big performance, your success depends primarily on your approach and how well you train your lips.
This requires a lot of practice sessions - regardless of where you are. Often, you will not have a soundproofed practice room and will either have to rely on a mute or focus on buzzing.
First and foremost, the Vhizzper is a practice mute that greatly reduces the volume of your instrument. In addition, musicians find its air resistance pleasant, and the air flow is also optimal. Intonation remains almost unchanged, unlike when using many other mutes. If the mouthpiece is inserted directly into the mute, it also functions as an excellent mouthpiece mute.
At the mouth of the mute there is an adjustable wheel which allows you to adjust or close off the air supply as you wish. The precise mechanism of the wheel clicks audibly with every adjustment, enabling you to find your desired setting easily and exactly. This is particularly helpful if you want to achieve an even more gradual volume minimisation with the practice mute. This adjustment mechanism means you can reliably set your ideal position. When the wheel is closed, the Vhizzper functions as a mouthpiece mute.
In order to ensure that your Vhizzper fits perfectly into a variety of trumpet bells, one or more rings can be removed. With all 5 rings in place, the mute is designed for large trumpet bells. The smaller the bell, the fewer rings required, and the unnecessary rings can be removed one by one. The same applies to the regulation of intonation. The deeper the Vhizzper sits in the bell, the higher the intonation.
